A-Typical Rainbow

Turbine Theatre – 30th June – 7th August 2022

Directed by Bronagh Lagan
Written And Performed by JJ Green

The charming queer coming of age story full of wonder and discovery (Gay Times): A-Typical Rainbow explodes onto stage.

Based on writer JJ Green’s personal experiences of growing up with autism, the story follows Boy as he navigates the roller-coaster ride of seeing the world from a unique perspective. As his sympathetic and loving mother tries desperately to soften the blow of a harsh society, boy continues to escape into the blissful, technicolour world of his imagination.

Fairy Powered Productions say it “Has the possibility to change the theatre as we know it”, the Guardian say “JJ Green’s writing bursts with imagination and whimsy” and The Stage say it’s a “colourful testament to the power of imagination”.
