A new musical, Sleeping Arrangements, had its world premiere at the Landor Theatre in April. The new musical is based on the novel by Sophie Kinsella, author of Confessions Of A Shopaholic. It ran at The Landor Theatre between 17th April – 25th May 2013.
The Confessions Of A Shopaholic novel was adapted into a film released in 2009, starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy but this will be the first of Sophie’s popular books to be adapted for the stage. Sophie Kinsella said “I am so excited to see my story on stage in such a hilarious and tuneful musical”.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Sleeping Arrangements tells the tale of Chloe who desperately needs a holiday. She’s sick of making wedding dresses and her partner, Philip has troubles at work. Her wealthy friend Gerard has offered the loan of his luxury villa in Spain – Perfect
Hugh is not a happy man. His immaculate wife Amanda seems more interested in her new kitchen than him and he works so hard to pay for it, he barely has time for his children. Maybe he’ll have a chance to bond with them on holiday. His friend Gerard has lent him a luxury villa in Spain.
Both families arrive at the villa and realise the awful truth – Gerard has double-booked. What no-one else realises is that Chloe and Hugh have a history, and as tensions rise, old passions resurface. It seems that Gerard’s ‘accidental’ double booking may not be an accident after all…

London Evening Standard – **** Stars
“Fans of summer are in for a treat…”
“By the end of the evening, I was all for booking a week in the attractive honey-stoned complex complete with white pillars and faded green shutters that is so evocatively conjured up…”
Time Out – **** Stars
“Burgess’s piece makes the transition to the stage so niftily, you only wonder why it hasn’t been attempted before”
“a highly entertaining evening”
“The cast…have charm in spades”
Superwoman – “a brilliantly lusty showstopper”
“plenty of humour, occasional moments of heated romance plus a practical dose of common sense”
“Jenny Gayner delivers a well-judged performance as the pragmatic Chloe, balancing the light and shade of her role with understanding and compassion.”
Liza Pulman “Glorious”
“Sleeping Arrangements…is certainly entertaining and marks Burgess as a definite ‘one to watch’ on the new musical theatre writers list”
So So Gay – **** Stars
“An enjoyable evening of entertainment and escapism”
“Jenny Gayner gives a heartfelt, believable performance as Chloe, which is matched well with Steven Serlin’s love-torn Hugh. Their chemistry sizzles, and they harmonise beautifully in their duets”
“Liza Pulman as Amanda…really goes to town in her Broadway style number…Pulman oozes pizazz, and works the stage like she’s playing the London Palladium”
How the Boy became a Man. How the Man became a Legend.
Claus tells the incredible story of a human child brought up by immortals in a magical forest. But when Claus discovers there’s a whole world outside of the forest, inhabited by humans like him, his life takes a different path.
Claus leaves the magical forest behind to be with his own kind and soon discovers a gift for toy-making. Children instantly love him, but the evil Awgwas, who revel in making children naughty, wage war on Claus who calls on his immortal friends for help.
But even free from the Awgwas, Claus faces a bigger battle – he’s getting older and can’t continue to deliver presents to children for ever, or can he . . .? Based on the book The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L.Frank Baum (writer of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz), with music and lyrics by Andy Collyer and a book by Simon Warne, Claus is a musical for all the family.
Claus had a reading as part of The From Page To Stage season of new musicals on 14th & 15th February. We are currently making preparations for a future Christmas production…
A new adaptation of Wendy Salisbury’s “The Toyboy Diaries” coming soon in a all new stage adaptation written by Simon Warne and Produced by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment.

THE JEWISH LEGENDS
A celebration of some of the greatest Jewish performers in entertainment history.
Why did American Jews find such success in the world of entertainment? Because they arrived in America in the late nineteenth century with nothing but a gift to peddle. And what better to peddle than a song, a dance or a comic routine.
This show uniquely explores a century of song, dance and comedy with a nod to some legendary performers such as Streisand, Jolson, Midler, Sophie Tucker, Fanny Brice and Groucho Marx. Song writers include Burt Bacharach.
Their songs, their lives, their stories.
Written by Chris Burgess
Musical Arrangements by Andy Collyer
Directed by Stewart Nicholls
Musically Directed by Lee Freeman/Freddie Tapner
Cast includes: Molly Walsh, Kimberly Moses, Martin Milnes, Joanna Lee, Steven Serlin and Martin Neely.
