10th October to 3rd December
Previews from 4th October

Directed by Jonathan O’Boyle

HAIR transfers to London, celebrating its 50th anniversary year! The acclaimed Hope Mill Theatre’s production of the iconic tribal rock musical directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, transfers to The Vaults, from WEDNESDAY 4 OCTOBER

Like a mini Woodstock, from the moment the audience arrive, The Vaults is transformed into a fully immersive 60s venue, with psychedelic innovative design, iconic artwork and hippie flower power.

Set in New York in 1967, HAIR is the musical story of a group of hippies who celebrate peace and love in the shadow of the Vietnam War.

Claude, his good friend Berger, their roommate Sheila and their friends struggle to balance their young lives, loves, and the sexual revolution with their rebellion against the war and their conservative parents and society. Ultimately, Claude must decide whether to resist the draft as his friends have done, or to succumb to the pressures of his parents (and conservative America) to serve in Vietnam, compromising his pacifistic principles and risking his life.

This ground breaking musical  was the first in a new age of what we now know as ‘the rock musical’. With its themes of war, prejudice, sexual freedom and self discovery, HAIR is as relevant now as it was in the 60’s.
