From Page to Stage 2013

A season of new musical theatre writing at The Landor Theatre, London. Katy Lipson of Aria Entertainment teamed up with the Artistic Director of the Landor Theatre, Robert McWhir, to curate a season of new musical theatre, compiling showcases, workshops and products of new International musical theatre writing. People have been asking, ‘Why isn’t there a venue dedicated to the presentation of new musical writing?’ Well now we have just that! Work was presented by a wide range of writers and producers including a showcase of songs from The New Musical Songbook (a website recently created with rights-holders and publishers Stagescripts Ltd, A STAGE KINDLY and The New Musical Network) which promotes the online sale and exposure of original musical theatre songs.The Landor season took place from February-March 2013.

Wednesday February 13th 7.30pm Sunshine Guy a new musical by James Lovelock (not suitable for children!)

Friday February 15th 7.30pm An Evening of Music and Lyrics by Annemarie Lewis Thomas

Saturday February 16th 7.30pm and 17th 3pm and 7.30pm The Road To Qatar! – by David Krane and Stephen Cole. A reading of this new musical all the way from New York. Directed by Kate Golledge and musically directed by George Dyer.!the-road-to-qatar/c1fdc

Tuesday February 19th – Sunday February 24th The Route To Happiness
(Tuesday – Saturday at 7.30pm, Sunday 24th at 2.30pm)

The world premiere of the new musical by award-winning composer-lyricist and BBC comic songwriterAlexander S. Bermange, with top musical theatre artists Cassidy Janson (Lend Me A Tenor, Avenue Q, Wicked), Niall Sheehy (finalist on ITV’s Superstar, Spamalot, Wicked) and Shona White (Chess, Les Miserables, Wicked). Directed by Landor Theatre artistic director Robert McWhir (Hot Mikado, Curtains,The Glorious Ones).

Sunday February 24th 7.30pm Richard Beadle & Friends – a collection of songs from the talented composer with some guests straight from the West End.

Tuesday February 26th 7.30pm 3 Writers And A Piano – Giles Howe, Tamar Broadbent and Gary Albert Hughes showcase some of their very own writing

Wednesday February 27th 7.30pm A Body To Die(t) For – a new musical by Tim Anfilogoff and Alan Whittaker. Directed by Matthew Gould and musically directed by Benjamin Holder.

Thursday February 28th 7.30pm A British Boy in Brooklyn – a new musical from the writers of Jet Set Go, Jake Brunger & Pippa Cleary.

Friday March 1st and 2nd 7.30pm Bitesize – 3 mini musicals by Michael Gordon Shapiro and Mark Harvey Levine and comedy songs from David Reiser, Noel Katz and Alexander Bermange

Wednesday March 13th 7.30pm Emerald – a new Irish-American musical by Denise Wright and Chris Burgess (this musical is the winner of the Sidney Brown Award for New Musicals 2013), starring Claire Sweeney. Directed by Nikolai Foster and musically directed by Tony award winning Sarah Travis.

Thursday March 14th 7.30pm Kandy Kottage – a bitter-sweet tale by Taylor, Rowan & Hughes.
Friday March 15th 7.30pm The Landor presents “Preview” – a selection of material from some of the upcoming projects to be shown at The Landor Theatre in 2013
